The Royal Oak public house in
Langstone High Street (situated just South of Havant in
Hampshire and just North of Hayling Island) is one of the most
photographed pubs in England. Sat on the edge of Langstone
Harbour, which itself is part of a larger conservation area
that includes most of Chichester Harbour to the East of
Hayling Island, the foreground that you see in this print is
underwater as the tide comes in.
This photo was taken on a cold and
windy November day in 2017, and as you can see it was very
overcast. There are so many great angles from which to view
The Royal Oak, and I think I spent around 2 hours walking up
and down with my camera and tripod, and ultimately took around
200 photos. This was my favourite viewpoint from the day,
helped by the fact that the tide was out and the gravel leads
the eye nicely into the photo. |
