Erysimum Linifolium 'Bowles Mauve'
or "wallflower", is a genus of flowering plants in the cabbage
family, Brassicaceae. It includes more than 150 species, both
popular garden plants and many wild forms. This particular
species is a vigorous, shrubby, evergreen perennial. Leaves
are gray-green, narrow and lance-shaped. Flowers are mauve and
continuous (which seems to literally work the plant to death!)
Be prepared to replace plants every few years. A winner in the
cottage style garden and in flower from Spring until Autumn.
Photographed in July last year at
Crescent Garden, Gosport in a shady part of the gardens. For
this image an aperture of f5.6 was used to get as much flower
detail as possible while blurring the background out. The
flower was in shadow at the time, so required a little
lightening in post to balance with the light hitting the
foliage of a small tree on the right of the picture. |
