Hampshire Barge (we didn't get the
actual name) is situated in front of the Salt Cafe at Wicor
Marine, Portchester.
Although
it wasn't photographed for this specific purpose, when we saw
the colours we felt they would suit expansion of the dynamic
range especially when given a little saturation tweak using
HDR software to resemble a painting.
The original photograph went
through several processes to give this final look, but started
off with a simple crop to get rid of distractions on each
side. The saturation was done in two stages, with a sharpening
stage in between to ensure the masts in the background
remained visible. A slight curves adjustment later and it was
ready to go through Photomatix Pro.
One of the Painterly presets was
selected in Photomatix although it was adjusted down to reduce
the heavy grain appearance which it often produces. The edges
were then sharpened before the final stage of softening, the
method of which will remain a closely guarded secret. This
print was produced specifically for canvas, but does look
great on Fotospeed 315gsm Archival Paper :). We hope you like
it too. |
