Photographed in April 2020 during
heavy rain and when the world first went into lockdown due to
the Coronavirus pandemic. This image reflects the time, the
sorrowful mood, dark and bleak but also with a ray of hope
that we will get through this. The Anemone flower symbolises
protection against ill will and evil, it can also symbolise
anticipation. Anemone, the flower of hope!
Anemone
coronaria, meaning crown anemone, belongs to the buttercup
family. Available in a range of colours they will flower from
early Spring to late Summer. Anemone coronaria was introduced
into England around 1596 and was popular during the reign of
Queen Elizabeth 1. By the beginning of the 18th century
breeders in France and Italy had much improved the range of
colours available. |
