Coneflower or Echinacea are a
classic American prairie plant and a striking summer flower.
Photographed in my garden in July 2021, the delightful shades
of the Coneflower are ideal for a Summer flower border. Their
cheerful flowers look great in a mixed border or planted
en-masse for a bold splash of colour.
A firm
favourite in a cottage garden setting, their vibrant colours
brighten up flower borders and attract bees, butterflies and
other pollinators. The Coneflower is a tough perennial and can
grow up to 4 feet, sturdy enough not to need staking, they
also make wonderful cut flowers. Seed heads of the Coneflower
can be left to feed the birds when you can see them swinging
back and forth feasting on the seeds during Autumn/Winter. |
