This image was taken at the
Midlands Air Festival which took place deep in the
Warwickshire Country side, at the historic Ragley Hall in
2018.
An early
start is sometimes worth the effort, after arriving at 5am I
was treated to a mass Hot Air Balloon Launch. I was fortunate
enough to witness an incredible 72 Balloons taking to the air
simultaneously. This was quite a specular site in the gentle
glow of the early morning sun. The perfect weather conditions
or low winds allowed the balloons to ‘box’ gently around the
airfield staying in close formation, a rare occurrence in the
ballooning world.
Many of
the Balloons had travelled considerable distances to attend
the event, including international participants from as far as
New Zealand! The vivid colours of the Balloons make for a
striking image against the beautiful English country park
background. The Midlands Air Festival offers a weekend of
varied flying activities including several Balloon launches
and a power aircraft flying display featuring classic
warbirds, aerobatics and historic jets.
