Blackwater is an area of the New Forest off Rhinefield Ornamental Drive, situated just a few miles from both Lyndhurst and Brockenhurst. This area is popular with tourists who come here to picnic or enjoy the trails through the woodland... cross over the road from the car park and you directly face Blackwater Arboretum, and to your right is the start of the Tall Trees Trail.
The Blackwater Arboretum houses a beautiful collection of trees from many countries and the sensory trail encourages you to touch, smell and listen to the sound of the trees. The Tall Trees Trail is around 1.5 miles in length and it is along this trail that you will see the tallest trees in the New Forest - The Wellingtonia (Sequioa). When you get to the far end near Brock Hill car park, cross over the road and head back for your picnic.
This photo was taken immediately to the south of Blackwater car park, facing east down the path that runs (almost) alongside Fletchers Water. I chose a low down perspective due to the autumn leaves and the beautiful clear blue skies that were poking through the canopy of golden browns, and I love how it turned out.
