Spitfires over Poppy Field

Here, two Spitfires are depicted beating up the South Oxfordshire countryside over a field emblazoned with distinctive crimson poppies in this digital montage in which the images were merged together using two of my Spitfire photographs taken at a UK air show and a poppy field in bloom.

The Spitfires were removed from the original photographs using various editing techniques in photoshop and using a graphics tablet. The two aircraft in the finished image are MH434 a Supermarine Spitfire MkIX in the foreground and EP120 a clipped wing Supermarine Spitfire MkVb.

The aircraft in the foreground MH434 was originally test flown by the legendary Alex Henshaw and would go on to 222 Sqn flown by Henry Lardner-Burke DFC who had seven and a half kills attributed to him in this air frame. EP120 in the background was taken into RAF service in May 1942 and joined 501 Squadron a Month later, EP120 scored Six of her confirmed kills with Squadron Leader Geoffrey Northcott at the controls.
