Harrier T4 depicted in flight. The Harrier shown was at RAF Valley in the 1970's and possibly one of the IV Squadron Harriers before being delivered RAE Farnborough in 1990 and was used as an Electromagnetic Compatibility test vehicle.
The Harrier which is best known as an advanced technology with STOL and VSTOL capabilities which amazed many people the first time they saw the aircraft in the hover at airshows and debuted at Farnborough with the Hawker P.1127, the VTOL precursor to the Harrier jump jet.
As time and VTOL technology moved on, the Harrier would be put to the ultimate test in 1982 when war broke out in the Falklands Islands with the Harrier used on defensive and offensive sorties from aircraft carriers in the conflict.
The example in the picture was a former RAE Harrier which was photographed static and added to a sky background with the jet efflux and pilot added in editing software using a graphics tablet and many different layers in photoshop.
