So I went out in June 2019 with a friend to photography the poppies in the field's around St. Huberts Church at Idsworth. I had already taken several photographs of the church and the poppies, and was on the verge of wrapping up when I spotted this single pink poppy surrounded by a sea of red poppies - as hard as I tried I couldn't see any more...
As you are no doubt aware, red poppies are linked to death, remembrance and consolation in the West, while in the East white poppies are linked to funerals and memorials. The pink poppy however (in common with purple and blue poppies) is said to be linked with success, imagination and luxury - it is because of this I decided to give this image the very fitting title "It is OK to be Different", don't you think?
