Throughout the years, I can't think of one person who I've spoken to who hasn't heard of the Avro Vulcan Bomber XH558, the majestic Delta Lady would relive her Cold War days displaying for spectators at many Air Shows, and despite it's original role in the Cold War being one of a nuclear deterrent XH558 won many admirers and followers up until her retirement in October 2015.
I had always wanted to capture the Vulcan at the annual Dawlish Air Show and capture it I did, unfortunately after a beautiful summers day and superb airshow the murky haze rolled in before the Vulcan appeared leaving the background washed with light grey fog.
To recreate the image I had fortunately taken some from the same spot while the sun was shining before the Vulcan was due in to display and used a photo from my collection which matched the angle and the sunlight to use it in this image.
The aircraft was cut from it's original background using the pen tool in a photo editing program and combined with the photograph of Dawlish which I had taken from Smugglers Hill. The Vulcan was then toned to match the background colour temperature. Finally the jet exhaust was painted in using a Graphics Tablet and Pen. Altogether it took around a day and a half from start to finish.
