Over recent years the Hydrangea plant went out of fashion but with many new varieties available they are back and making a statement with their beautiful shaped petals and stunning colours.
Hydrangea’s are very popular both as cut flowers and plants for the garden because of their big and beautiful blooms, they are also popular in bridal bouquets. The historical meaning of hydrangea stems from the Greek word for water, hydro, the name comes from the constant moisture required to keep the flowers happy, healthy and blooming.
I’ve named the image ‘Raindrops’ because of the torrential rain on the day I took the photograph. I cut and brought the Hydrangea flower inside and placed it in front of a large window. With the parent plant outside I was able to use that as the background and also capture the raindrops. I feel this Hydrangea image fits perfectly with the description of what Hydrangea’s require to survive, hydro and lots of it.
